Our Weekend Picks: Watch Fair, Beer Fest, Fireworks and more!

Friday, June 1
If you’re planning to do some yard work this weekend and still need a few things to finish out those beds or planters, don’t miss the Native Plant Sale at the D&R Greenway’s Johnson Education Center. A plus: Nursery staff and volunteers will help you find the right plant for the spot you have in mind. 3pm. www.drgreenway.org

Saturday, June 2
Go back in time with a trip to Bordentown’s Liberty Lake Day Camp this weekend as they host the NJ Renaissance Faire! Seven stages of entertainment, sword fighters, dancers, musicians, comedians, fire breathers, and more… the ultimate “Ren Faire” experience awaits. 10am-6pm. http://njrenfaire.com/boxoffice.html

For a fest of a different kind, head to Mercer County Park in West Windsor for the Craft Beer and Food Truck Festival. With a beer garden featuring 8 breweries, 16 food trucks, live music, crafters and more, this fair benefits Arms2Artisans: a program the provides fellowships and job placement services to veterans. Cheers to that! $7 admission, $5 parking, 11am-6pm. http://newjerseywineevents.com/nj-craft-beer-food-truck-festival.html

Quick… to the Batmobile! (To Randy Now’s Man Cave, in Bordentown, where the original Batmobile will be making an appearance!) Loosely described, Randy Now’s space is a consignment store–you might recognize his name as the guy who booked hundreds of shows for the legendary City Gardens–and the vehicle from the 1960’s TV series “Batman” will be rolling up on Saturday! Free, 12-5pm. www.mancavenj.com

The soulful rock of local indie band Black Cat Habitat returns to Small World Coffee’s Witherspoon Street cafe this Saturday. Playing their own high-energy, bluesy pop/rock songs, plus a few covers, this one always gets the cafe rocking! Free, 8:30-10:30pm www.blackcathabitat.com

It’s reunions weekend in Princeton, and while most of the festivities are Tigers-only, aside from catching a glimpse of the P-Rade, our second favorite bystander activity on this weekend are the fireworks! Held at Finney Field, they’re preceded by a concert from the Princeton University Orchestra. FREE, 8pm.  www.music.princeton.edu
