Pi Day Weekend, St. Pat’s and More!


Friday March 10
St. Pat’s is right around the corner, and Princeton Public Library is getting in the spirit with ‘Ceol agus Cairde – Music and Friends.’ Featuring musician Helen O’Shea and her band, you’ll be transported across the Atlantic for a traditional ‘kitchen party,’ inspired by Ireland’s tradition of music, songs and stories. Avid readers won’t want to miss this event: Labyrinth Books hosts novelists Domenico Starnone and Jhumpa Lahiri, and Mark Reynolds, editor-in-chief of Europa editions for a reading and conversation on Starnone’s 13th work of fiction, ‘Ties.’ FREE, 6pm. www.labyrinthbooks.com

Saturday March 11
It’s Pi Day weekend in Princeton, which means the town is being taken over with events about the number Pi, the food pie, and Albert Einstein–3.14 is his birthday! The Nassau Inn acts as HQ for the celebration that happens at locations across town and on campus. At the Inn, you’ll find an Einstein Look-alike Contest, a Pi Recitation Contest (judged by the North American record holder!) and a Pie Judging competition that puts local bakers head to head. The maple trees have been tapped at the Stony Brook Millstone Watershed, and the naturalists are leading a hike this weekend to show you all about it! In Hamilton, it’s time for the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. Grand Marshal Tom O’Reilly leads the 1.5 mile parade that ends at the intersection of Shady Lane and Nottingham Way. FREE, 12:30pm. www.hamiltonparade.com
