To demonstrate the depth of its concern about A2586, a bill now in the State Assembly, Princeton Borough Mayor Moore and Borough Council is holding a Town Forum during the majority of its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, October 9th at 7:00pm in Council Chambers, Princeton Borough Hall, 1 Monument Drive, 08540. A2586 would exempt private universities and colleges from land use law – this would allow these private institutions to construct projects without any zoning constraints and without review by the Princeton Regional Planning Board. Both Princeton Township and Princeton Borough have passed resolutions strongly opposing the bill. Invited speakers at the Forum include Michael Cerra, Sr. Legislative Analyst, New Jersey League of Municipalities; and Charles Latini, Jr., AICP, President, American Planning Association – NJ Chapter, as well as a number of mayors, experts and other officials. The invited Mayors are among 17 municipalities that are currently known to contain property owned by private universities. The public is invited to attend, and to ask questions and offer comments.
